"For the past 30 years, Albania has been subject to vicious market experiments, which have wrecked public institutions. Fighting back against this neoliberal onslaught, Organizata Politike has focused its efforts on organizing workers and students, unionizing coal miners, oil industry workers, academic staff and call-center workers, and sparking a student movement that recently revitalized Albanian society’s hopes for radical change. We already know the value of global syndicates and organizations’ support, but the time has come to deepen and coordinate our struggles. Only if we succeed in doing so, can we hope to take on immense, cross-border challenges like COVID-19 and the climate crisis. Only through effective global solidarity can we write a new, transnational social contract; one that finally delivers basic human rights like universal healthcare and education, realizes international tax justice, paves the way for a universal basic income, and guides the transition towards a Green New Deal. The Progressive International can, must, and will be key in integrating these goals – and realizing them."
