The purpose of the conviction in the “Vialidad” case is to eliminate from political life the two-time President and former Vice-President of the Argentine people, as well as the values and ideals she represents. There is no doubt that the case is part of a systematic plan of persecution, articulated by political, legal and media sectors, whose purpose is to proscribe her and install discourses of hatred and violence.

From the beginning and during the entire process, the case was plagued with procedural and legal irregularities that caused a serious violation of the constitutional guarantees of the former President, especially her right to defense in court. In addition, the entire judicial process was led by a true media campaign of lies, stigmatization and attacks against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The persecution against the former President, promoted by the hegemonic media, the Judiciary, different State agencies and political leaders, developed with the opening and promotion of numerous legal cases. However, its most dramatic consequence was the assassination attempt of September 1, 2022.

In view of this situation and given the multiple legal and procedural irregularities, we express our firm support for Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and condemn the legal persecution and political proscription to which she is being subjected.
